Description:

Classrooms are increasingly digitizing teacher-student work flow. This is requiring teachers to rethink how they distribute and collect student work and provide feedback. This session will showcase proven time-saving strategies available within the G Suite (aka Google Apps) for Education. Particular emphasis will be placed on how to provide meanigful feedback on written assignments. 

Objective:
Participants will be able to utilize G Suite (aka Google Apps) for Eduction to streamline student-teacher workflow with the goal of quickly and efficiently providing students with meaningful feedback on their written work. Other efficiency tips will be shared.

Utilizing Chromebooks in a Math Classroom

We will be spending time learning how to use Chromebooks in a Math setting. We will explore using Sheets as a means to set up worksheets, tasks, and RSG for Math 1. We will also explore using Google Forms for creating Exit tickets and assessments.

Tech Tools - Together They Are Stronger

Because this session involves working with Google Forms, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, it is best of participants have a basic foundation in working with these apps. No pre-knowledge of Google Sheet formulas is required. 

Description:
This session will introduce a research project that allows students to use Google Forms, Google Sheets, and Google Slides to participate in data collection, organization, and presentation. The example project shown will be an electronic reading log that tracks students' reading lives, including academic, personal, and service reading, and then allows them to share their findings in an academic presentation. The project idea, however, can be adapted to other subjects as content teachers see fit and generally promotes students' ownership of their learning and comfort with technology.

Objectives:

Filmmaking as Assessments

Teachers need a basic understanding of how to use their smartphones to download apps and basic concepts of filmmaking.

Description:

Teachers will learn how to have students use multiple video apps on Chromebooks and smart phones that will assess multiple standards. Learning will be hands on; teachers will make their own videos to learn the apps so they in turn can teach their students how to use it. Teachers will also be shown how to upload it and 'get it off their phones' to share with the class. Teachers will also develop the video assignment lesson as a way to assess multiple standards.

Participants will understand the basics of integrating video as an assessment tool. As an example, teachers will learn about Screencastify, how to develop tools to assist students on how to use it, and how to prepare students to make presentations.

Dread Cornell Note taking? Think of it as a boring way to waste class time? Not anymore! During this session we will be using Google Docs to convert standard cornell notes to a digital format that will be interactive to increase student motivation. This session will walk through how to revise cornell notes in google docs using both the editing mode as well as the more advanced suggestion mode. This will include how to share notes between students and have them gain experience in revising someone elses notes. Anyone of any experience level can learn and extend upon this activity!

Teachers can expect works cited pages that are properly sourced and composed. Teachers will learn the value of keyword searching vs searching by subject.

Nearpod-Take Engagement and Assessment to a New Level

ePortfolios are a superb way for students to demonstrate their growth and to showcase both their skills and their learning, while providing a powerful tool for authentic assessment. Digitize Your Cornell Notes

Prerequisites:
Teachers should have a basic understanding of being able to open and copy a google doc. More advanced features will be available for those who have higher level of understanding for google docs.

Description:

Dread Cornell Note taking? Think of it as a boring way to waste class time? Not anymore! During this session we will be using Google Docs to convert standard cornell notes to a digital format that will be interactive to increase student motivation. This session will walk through how to revise cornell notes in google docs using both the editing mode as well as the more advanced suggestion mode. This will include how to share notes between students and have them gain experience in revising someone elses notes. Anyone of any experience level can learn and extend upon this activity!

Objectives:
Teacher will understand the revision process of cornell notes and why it is important for student information retention.
Teacher will be able to go through the revision process for cornell notes on google docs using editing mode.
Teachers will be able to share notes and revise another students notes using suggestion mode.

Crash Course ~ Organize Your Gmail and Contacts!

Individuals taking this are at the Intermediate/Advanced level of understanding of how to organize their Gmail and Contacts.

Description:

This session is specifically geared for the individual who has 1,000+ emails in their inbox. Feel like you can't find that one email sent to you just yesterday? Feel swamped by unimportant emails? Wish you could prioritize and organize your email inbox? Ever wonder how people send emails to all staff? Does your inbox make you feel overwhelmed? Then this session is for you. Administrators, teachers, and classified members all welcome! 

Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will have learned how to organize their email inbox into folders, how to archive, and how to filter emails. Participants will also learn how to maximize their contacts to send out group emails without having to recall individuals email addresses each time.  This is a quick demonstration of tips and tricks.

Going In-Depth with Google Searches for Student Research

Prerequisites:
This lesson assumes basic aptitude in typing and technology. 

Description:
This fast-moving presentation (very little time for interactivity) will demonstrate some of the versatility of Google as a student research tool. Help students perform various targeted Google searches, advanced Google Image searches, Google Scholar searches, specific site inquiries, analysis of the credibility of sources, and citation of sources.

Objectives:
Walk away with a list of Google tools and search techniques that can aid students in research.

Teachers who can access their Google Drive, create a document, and type into a table will do swimmingly well.Basic knowledge of being able to navigate through a computer is needed, how to log into accounts, save, etc.

Description:

Harnessing the Robust Nature of Your Library's Databases: Tired of wading through hundreds of google searches to find just the right source for your paper? This one-hour lesson will help teachers search for scholarly and legitimate sources on their school library's SIRs databases--and then teach it to their students. APA and MLA citations are available at the click of the mouse. 

Objectives:
Teachers will save valuable time in teaching the research process to their students by using a vetted series of sites and sources from the databases. Teachers can expect works cited pages that are properly sourced and composed. Teachers will learn the value of keyword searching vs searching by subject.
