SUHSD Tech Showcase 2017 has ended
SUHSD Teachers, you are invited to a hands-on technology conference designed and conducted by our own SUHSD teachers.

Here is your chance to discuss, learn and practice in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Sign-up only for the sessions you want.  Space is limited.
You will be paid for each technology session you attend.
Chromebooks will be provided, but if you want, bring your own laptop/tablet/Chromebook.

Fostering Strong Digital Citizenship Across the SUHSD

Prerequisite:
Teaching digital citizenship to our students is a vital skill applicable to all teachers - both novice and veteran.

Description:
With increased expectations of students using digital tools comes increased responsibility to teach digital citizenship. Join your colleagues in an interactive exploration of what being a strong digital citizen entails, and how we can foster that mindset in our students, Grades 7-12 across the curriculum.

Objectives:
Teachers will:
*Gain a strong understanding of the 4 foci of digital citizenship
* Review SUHSD data on the state of digital citizenship in the district
*Identify ways to strengthen the development of students' digital citizenship within our respective subject areas.
*Develop lesson plans / best practices to integrate digital citizenship for use in our own classrooms. These teacher-generated resources can become part of our district's Best Practices Lesson Bank

Going In-Depth with Google Searches for Student Research

Prerequisite:
This lesson assumes basic aptitude in typing and technology. 

Description:
This fast-moving presentation (very little time for interactivity) will demonstrate some of the versatility of Google as a student research tool. Help students perform various targeted Google searches, advanced Google Image searches, Google Scholar searches, specific site inquiries, analysis of the credibility of sources, and citation of sources.

Objectives:
Walk away with a list of Google tools and search techniques that can aid students in research.
